Inner Conversation: The Birth of a New Voice
The journey of creating music is a labyrinth—a collection of sparks that often remain veiled from the world. Today, as I look back through the archives of the Journal, I find myself at the year 2020. A time when we were all forced into stillness, and I was forced to look inward.
Inner Conversation was my first step into a new world: self-production.
I remember sitting at my electric piano. To be honest, I missed the weight and soul of a real acoustic piano under my fingers, but the silence of that year demanded a different approach. I was in a dark place, my mind a canvas painted with a cacophony of emotions. It felt like an ensemble of voices all speaking at once—a tumultuous inner dialogue that needed a language.
Translating the Turmoil
Coming from a classical background, the world of “Electronic Music” and DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) was uncharted territory. I had to learn the technical craft of mixing and mastering from scratch. My goal wasn’t to find “special effects,” but to find a way to keep the music simple, honest, and pleasing to the ear.
The process was an odyssey of introspection. I spent hours deciphering the nuances of those inner voices, writing note-by-note, just like the good old days. In that fervor to encapsulate what I was feeling, time lost its significance.
The Transformation
Creating this piece was both liberating and demanding. It was an exploration of how inner turmoil can metamorphose into a symphony. I discovered emotions inside me I didn’t even know existed until the music pulled them out.
When I finally finished, I remember the nerves. I was terrified of how people would react. But I realized then that music is a form of human expression—we can only share our experience and hope that someone, somewhere, relates to the journey.
By the time I hit “upload,” I was already onto the next melody. In those days, it felt like I could write a new piece every single day.
But that… is a story for the next entry.
